Breath inverstigaton papers The point of this trial is to quantify three parts of human relaxing. Flowing volume; volume of air that moves all through the lungs during one pattern of relaxing. Breathing rate the rate at which breathing happens. Indispensable limit the proportion of the volume of the subjects lungs The react of the flowing volume and breathing rate to oxygen request will likewise be estimated. The lungs are where vaporous trade happens. Breathing is the manner by which air enters and leaves the lungs, going through the trachea, bronchi and bronchioles. Breathing comprises of two sections, bringing air into the chest (inward breath) and breathing air pull out once more (exhalation). Weight changes are associated with breathing; these progressions realize the development of air all through the lungs. The ribs bolster the body mass of the chest, which has an arch shape base framed by the stomach. When breathing in air the intercostals muscles contract raising the ribs upwards and outwards. The stomach contracts and is brought down and straightened. This at that point brings about the volume of the chest expanding, which implies the weight in the chest diminishes. As the weight is lower in the chest depression than the air weight of the air outside the lungs, the air is attracted the chest hole by means of the upper respiratory section. While breathing out, muscles of the stomach and the intercostal muscles unwind. The ribs move inwards and down, bringing about a reduction in the volume of the chest. This causes an expansion in pressur e. The weight is presently higher in the lungs the air pressure, air moves out of the lung through a similar upper section as in breathing in. The body needs oxygen to be continually conveyed and carbon dioxide expelled in this way, breathing happens for the duration of our lives. At Kenan-Flagler, A Big Swig Of Awareness
At Kenan-Flagler, A Big Swig Of Awareness by: Naomi Nishihara on August 12, 2016 | 0 Comments Comments 728 Views August 12, 2016Carolina Conscious founders, left to right: Patrick Lowery, advisor Tracy Triggs-Matthews, Deanna MacCormac, Lisa Dunleavy, Asher Lipsitz, and Ben Director. Courtesy photo.Aà club project launched by University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School students to addressà environmental concerns and raise awareness of sexual assault has grown into a campus-wide business ââ¬â and now its founders are beginning to think about expanding beyond their school.Deanna MacCormac and Lisa Dunleavy, rising seniors and business majors at UNC Kenan-Flagler, decided last spring to find an environmentally friendly alternative to the ubiquitous red Solo cups found on campuses across the country. The idea grew out of their membership inà the campus Net Impact Club, which cultivates values-driven business leaders and helps them grow into social and enviro nmental change-makers.When classmates heard about MacCormac and Dunleavysà interest in cups, a friend introduced them to three other students who were also trying to spark change through party products. Patrick Lowery, a math and economics major, Asher Lipsitz, a journalism major, and Ben Director, another business major at UNC Kenan-Flagler, were lookingà to spread awareness about campus sexual assault by replacing traditional party cups with those emblazoned with anà awareness message.SHOWING UP ATà FRATERNITIES, IN DORMSThe five students teamed up and founded Carolina Conscious as a campus club. Once they designed and found a way to mass-produce the cups, theà business was born. In the last month of school, Carolina Consciousà sold 20,000 cups.ââ¬Å"It got too big for us not to do it,â⬠MacCormac says. ââ¬Å"Weââ¬â¢re trying to encourage a culture shift. Carolina Conscious is helping people do their part, without them having to take a very big step themselve s.â⬠From the start, Carolina Consciousà hasà focused on fraternity and dormitory parties. Last spring, MacCormac says, five or six frats and two or three dorms wereà using their cups. When school starts again in the fall, they plan to talk to more frats about incorporating the cups into Rush events.THE ENVIRONMENTAL SIDEOn the Carolina Conscious website, the two missions are explained with large infographics. On the environmental impact page, there are images of 10 minivans with text reading, ââ¬Å"Each year, we use and throw away over 100,000 plastic cups. Thatââ¬â¢s enough cups to fill over 10 minivans! Each lasts hundreds of years in the landfill without decaying.â⬠Carolina Conscious cups, on the other hand, are made of corn-based bioplastic that can decompose in 50 days. They order the cups in bulk and sell them in smaller numbers to groups throwing parties on campus. For now, MacCormac says, the cups are priced competitively with traditional 16-ounce plastic cups sold at local retailers. This way, she says, there isà no reason not to use Carolina Conscious cups instead of red Solo cups. ââ¬Å"We have a slim profit margin because we really want people to use them,â⬠she says.THE SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS SIDELowery, Lipsitz, and Director designed a logo that is printed on the cups, directing party-goers to their website.à ââ¬Å"The cups say to get the conversation started on www.carolinaconscious.org, which we hope will drive more people to the site,â⬠MacCormac says. ââ¬Å"The site has a lot of info.â⬠On the Conscious Change section of the website, for example, Carolina Conscious providesà data specific to UNC-Chapel Hill thatà was published in 2015 by the Association of American Universitiesââ¬â¢ Campus Climate Survey on Sexual Assault and Sexual Misconduct. It shows that one in four female undergraduates, and one in 15 male undergraduates, have been raped or sexually assaulted. Page 1 of 212à »

The Link Between Creativity and Bipolar Disorder,...
THE LINK BETWEEN CREATIVITY AND BIPOLAR DISORDER The Link Between Creativity and Bipolar Disorder Creativity is related with bipolar disorder is a popular assumption. The fact that many creative people, including Van Gogh, Ernest Hemingway, Leo Tolstoy, and Sylvia Plath, suffered from some kind of mental disorders triggers that idea. Psychologists have been interested in this contingent link for decades. In this paper, after defining both terms, I examine three articles that report the results of the research concerning the potential relationship between creativity and bipolar disorder. Paulus Nijstad (2003) defined creativity as ââ¬Å"the development of original ideas that are useful or influentialâ⬠(p.3). That is to say,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The findings revealed that children with bipolar patients scored significantly higher on the creativity measure than the healthy children with healthy parents. Bipolar adultsââ¬â¢ children had higher creativity even they did not have bipolar disorder (Chang, Ketter, Simeono va Strong, 2005). The previous research showed an association between creativity and bipolar disorder, but this is the first study that examined creativity in the offspring of bipolar patients. Simon Kyaga and colleagues conducted another study involving 1.2 million Swedish people in 2012. The participants included people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, unipolar depression, autism and some other kinds of mental disorders. The results supported the existing evidence for the link between creativity and bipolar disorder. They found no correlation between creativity and psychopathology aside from bipolar disorder (Kyaga et al., 2012). According to the research findings, people with creative professions were %8 more likely to suffer from bipolar disorder. On the contrary, people in creative professions were considerably less likely encounter with the other conditions such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, unipolar depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, autism, ADHD, and committing suicide. However, the first-degree relatives of people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and anorexia nervosa were more likely to hold creative occupations. They also demonstrated
